Question maybe, is it the still or the mash.
What did you clean it with?
Do anything diffrent in your mash preperation?
One shouldn't wear out per se but can get a patina in the pores of the metal, could possably cause it. ~ever lick an old penny~
Try cleaning it with vinager an lemon juce or try a kitchen steam cleaner if ya got one, leave every thing apart to dry in the sun if possable. Don't use rough scrubbies on one, scratches give contaminets a place to hide and make hot spots on the bottom so doesn't heat evenly
Hoses bad to get bacteria an crap in em between uses if not cleaned, dryed an stored in ziptop's
Should replacce all on regular basis anyway.
One has the heat to high can scorch mash to the bottom, even after cleaning, can leach out next time heat's applyed.
Make sure to use fresh yeast.
Dont use white container or keep it in the dark
Soon as acohol cointent tops out, hit it with yeast killer ~do not move the container~
Let it sit an settle at least 24hrs.
Skim the top with a ladle, siphon mash slowly through a couple layers of cheese cloth
Stop when you see any sediments from near the bottom in the hose.
~I mention if you put mash on top of a stool to ferment makes it ezy to do?~
Hope one o those tricks does ya some good
