I didn’t think they did schedule changes this late in the year. MV: Well, they love me in the Guidance Office. They take care of me in there. Thalia: I guess that’s the advantage of being an athlete, huh? MV: Exactly. Thalia: But it’s already November. I thought it was too late in the year. I mean, we start reviewing for semester exams in less than a month. MV: What can I say? They love me. Thalia: Ok, Mr. Popular. Well, I have to get to class and so do you. Buena suerte en la clase de espanol, papi. Don’t you have a test today? MV: Yes, I do. I think it’s a pop quiz. Thalia: You’ll do fine. Now go [gives him a slight nudge]. Bye baby. MV [kisses her]: Bye. [Thalia looks at Zach and walks into her 1st hour] Zach [thinking]: This is not happening right before my eyes. She can’t be with Ricky. It’s not possible. [Inside] Thalia [sitting down at her desk]: Man, I have a lot of work to do… MH: Did you take those pictures at Homecoming like I asked you to? Thalia: Of course. You know me, all work and no play. I got them developed and everything. All I need to do is get to work. MH: And did you do that 1000 word essay like I asked you to? Thalia: Did you check your email? I sent it there. I also wrote better questions for Ricky. The first set of questions were kinda shitty. So I will pull him in 4th hour and ask away. MH: Well, you’re on top of things. I like that. Thalia: When have you ever known me to slack? I got so much done this weekend. I’m on cloud 9. Everything is going perfectly. Zach: Um, Thalia, can I talk to you for a minute? Thalia: Come with me and step into my office…but make this quick because I don’t have all day. MH [thinking]: Wow, spoken like a true staffer…[pause] she better not rip him a new one while she’s in there. [Inside Thalia’s office] Zach [closes the door behind them]: We need to talk… Thalia [turning on her computer and putting on her glasses]: Ok, so what do you want? Zach: Don’t tell me you’re with Ricky now. Thalia: Ok, I won’t tell you. Zach: Thalia, I’m being serious. Thalia: And so am I. Is this what you came in here for? I really don’t have time for this. Zach: I just want answers. Thalia: The proof is in the pudding, Zachary. Zach: You told me you hated Ricky. Thalia: No, what I told you was I hated the way he treated me and I hated his attitude. Zach: So why are you with him? To get back at me? Thalia: No, I’m with him because he’s good to me, he respects me but more importantly, he’s HONEST with me. Even when he didn’t want to give me the time of day, he was straight up with me. I can’t get you to tell me the real reason why you’re with that hoe. So why should I trust you? Zach: I like her, she likes me… Thalia: That’s bullshit. You actually expect me to believe that? Zach: It’s true. Thalia: You just wanna get in her pants, admit that. Zach: I haven’t touched her. Thalia [thought about what she was about to say before she opened her mouth]: I believe you. Zach: You do? Thalia: Yeah. You stick your hands in your pockets when you’re about to lie. You always do that. Zach: You know me too well. Thalia: Yeah, I do. But that still doesn’t excuse you from what you’ve done. Now I have work to do.
