Posted by MoChA [In the mall parking lot] MV: Hey, Thalia! Thalia [turns around]: Hey baby! [gives him a hug] How are you? How was your summer? Seeing as how it’s pretty much gone? MV: It was pretty good. All I did was work. How about you? Thalia: Same here. I bought a few things though. That was fun. MV: Uh, oh. I’m almost afraid to ask, but what did you buy? Thalia: Oh, come on Zach! You know I don’t purchase many big things. It’s only the small things I purchase in excess. Zach: Ok, so what did you buy? Thalia: I got myself an apartment. Zach: How did you pull that one off? You’re not 18 yet. Thalia: I know the owner. His name is Phil. You know the apartments right down the street from here called Paradise Cay? Zach: Yes, that’s where you’re at? Sounds a bit on the pricey side, if you ask me. How much? Thalia: Well, for what I have, not much. He gave me a 2 bedroom, with washer and dryer included, and along with a garage and awesome view of the lake and the pool. All this for only $950 a month. Zach: Nice. Have you moved in yet? You know we have to throw you a house party? Thalia: Oh, don’t worry. The house party is a must and no I haven’t moved in yet. In fact, I move in this weekend. Zach: You need some help? You know you can always ask me if you do. Thalia: Well, I would appreciate it if you would… Zach: I got you covered. I’m all over that. Thalia: Thanks, baby [hugs him and notices a white Mustang behind him]. Is that your new baby? Zach: Yep, that’s my new ride. Isn’t she beautiful? Dad bought it for me. I’m soupin it up this year. Thalia: She’s pretty. Zach [begins to walk to the mall entrance]: Thank you. So I assume you’re moving Saturday morning? Thalia: Yep. I have pretty much all my things packed. All I need is to put the boxes in my room in the POD and send it to the apartment. Then I bought a bunch of plates and other kitchen things yesterday. After work today, I’m going to sign the lease papers so I can paint. Zach: They’re going to let you do that? Thalia: Just as long as I return the place to its original color when I leave. My homeboy, Bobby is coming over to install the cable and ceiling fans while I’m painting. Zach: How did you make time for all this? Thalia: I took Saturday and Sunday off. I’m sure I’ll be finished painting by 10pm. Then I can go home and get some sleep for school tomorrow. [The 2 of them are standing in front of Guess?] Zach: What time is your break? Thalia: 1pm, yours? Zach: Same time. Where are we eating today? Thalia: Wherever your money is taking us. I bought last time… Zach: You act like I have money growin outta my pockets. I’m not Bank of America. Thalia: Calm down! I’m paying for you to eat at my place when you help me move in. And I’m also making sure you get a key just in case you need to have some time away from everything. Zach: OK, that’s more like it… [pause] Ok, well, I have to go clock in now. I’ll see you at lunch. Thalia: Ok, bye babe… [she hugs him and he kissed her cheek] [Inside Foot Action] Zach: Hello boys… Chad: What’s up boss? Luke: Hey, Zach. Zach: Who’s coming in today? Luke: I think Mike comes in at 2pm, Lindsey at 3pm, and Janae’s covering you. Zach: Nice [begins to open the registers]. Guys, I believe we have inventory tonight. So let’s sell today that way we have less to count. I want you to begin counting one hour before your shift is over. The final counts are done after we close. Chad: What’s the point of double counting like this? Zach: Just in case there’s a discrepancy on the counting. You don’t wanna have to recount like we did last time, do you? Chad: No! That took too damn long! Zach: My point exactly. We’ll be busy today so do the best you can. The computer in the back is our back up plan just in case we make a mistake. I was able to fix it the other day. So do the best you can. And I’m told there’s a bad storm coming so you can’t really rely on these computers in storms… [At Guess?] Thalia: Hey kids! Nicole: Hey, Thalia. You look cute. Thalia: Why thank you [she was sporting a midnight blue Guess Velour ‘fit, a white ribbed tank top that had Guess? written in rhinestones and the Guess “Mercury” bowling shoes with the dark blue and white]. Are we ready to sell today? Jessica: I am. I need that commission. Nicole: I feel you girl. Thalia: Ladies [begins to open register 1], you know today are tomorrow are huge in terms of sales. All of our back-to-school shoppers are coming. Expect big sales. Jessica: Speaking of school, are you ready for your last year? You’re officially a senior! Thalia: Yeah, I’m excited [pauses and thinks] It’s just like any other year…I’m all alone…nothing has changed… [At lunch] Zach: How’s work been? Thalia: Fine. We’ve been selling like crazy. I think we have in close to 3 grand. It’s only 1pm. Imagine what’s gonna happen later on tonight! Zach: I know. I can’t wait. I’ll probably get my bonus. Thalia: How much is that [bites her chicken sandwich]? Zach: Probably an added $300. It’s a small bonus but it’ll do. My associates get $150 [eats some fries]. Thalia: Nice. Buy me some shoes! Zach: Later. You gotta tell me what you want though. I already know your size. But not now. I don’t get the bonus until next month. Thalia: Well, I’ll give you a head start on looking. I want a pair of Jordans. I need something to go with my jersey dress. Zach [thinking]: She wastes no time, does she? [out loud] You want the Carolina Blue Jordans? Don’t they go with the jersey I bought you? Thalia: Yes, sir. That will work. Thank you. Zach: Welcome. [After lunch, they went back to work. Zach went home and then to the gym. Thalia met up with Bobby who installed her cable and ceiling fans. Thalia worked around him as she painted. When he was finished, he helped her paint. They got finished around 10:30pm. Thalia paid him but he wouldn’t take it. They left and she went to her old home to get some sleep for the first day of her last day in high school] ~*~Well, how will her year go? ~*~Hey kids! I’m back with another one! Thalia is in the shower singing Mya’s “My love is Like Wo”. Thalia’s trying to get ready for her last day as a Daytime Manager. Her schedule change is due to tomorrow being her the first day of her last year in high school. She’s very nervous but excited at the same time. Many of the people she knows are already all “coupled up” and have been that way since the summer. She’s the only one to her knowledge that’s still single. Unfortunately, it’s been that way for a while now. She wants to change that but isn’t too sure on how to do that. She’s recognizes that she thinks she may like her best friend, Zach, but that’s like her brother. She can’t really get into him. Will she be single the rest of her senior year?
