*Kareem laid there in the bed, eyes bloodshot because he hadn’t had enough sleep*
Kareem *thinking*: I hadn’t had sleeping problems since my last girl. That was when I was in love. What’s wrong with you Kareem? *looks at his phone to see if Nicole called*
Answering Machine: “You have no new messages.”
Kareem: Call her right now. Tell her you wanna come over and apologize…*picks up the phone and dials her number. I rang 4 times and the answering machine kicks in*
*Nicole’s voice*: Hey! You’ve reached Venessa and Nicole. Leave us a message and we’ll call you back. Have a nice day…*BEEP*
Kareem: Nicole…Nicole…I know you’re there…pick up the phone please…
Nicole *looking at the answering machine*: He must be kidding…
Kareem: Listen, I’m sorry. I know this hurt you. It hurts me more. I’m kinda torn between the 2 of you. But I’m with my Shayla right now. Please talk to me…I go to work at 12. If you get this, call me at home or at work if I’m not here…*BEEP*
Nicole: I’m not callin you, Kareem. I’m leaving! *shuts the apartment door behind her*
[Nicole in the car on the Turnpike]
Nicole *cell phone ringing*: Hi Venessa.
Venessa: Hey boo. Where are you going at 8:15 AM?
Nicole: Ft. Lauderdale.
Venessa: What’s in Ft. Lauderdale?
Nicole: My escape.
Venessa *a bit confused but realized what was going on*: Ok, take as long as you need.
Nicole: If I don’t get back in time, next month’s rent is in my room by my computer.
Venessa: Ok. Call me when you get there.
Nicole: I will.
Venessa: Love you boo.
Nicole: Love you too.
*When Nicole got to Ft. Lauderdale, she parked her car, got her bag out and went inside*
[1:45 PM EST/10:45AM PT]
Nicole *on her cell phone*: How quickly can you get here?
Female Voice: Get where?
Nicole: Las Vegas International.
FV: What are you talking about? What are you doing there?
Nicole: I’m in Vegas, Liana. I’m on vacation. Come get me.
Liana: Sure boo! Now I understand what’s going on. I’ll be there in a ½ hour.
[A ½ hour later]
*Liana and Nicole in Liana’s Jeep]
Liana: Girl, I can’t believe you’re here. Why are you here anyway?
Nicole: I’m sick of all the shit that’s been happening to me in Florida. So I needed a change of scenery.
Liana: Ok. Stay as long as you need. Does Kareem have anything to do with this?
Nicole: Of course it does.
*Nicole’s phone rings*
Liana: Who is it?
Nicole: Kareem…
Liana: Ohh! Lemme answer it!
Nicole: Naw, I got this. *answers the phone* What do you want Kareem?
Kareem: Where are you? Did you get my message?
Nicole: I heard every word. I stood right next to the answering machine as you left the message.
Kareem: Why didn’t you pick up?
Nicole: Didn’t want to. Is this conversation going anywhere or not? I don’t wanna waste my minutes since I’m roaming.
Kareem: Where are you?
Nicole: I’m in Vegas…
Kareem: What are you doing out there?
Nicole: I needed to get away from all that shit that’s been happening out there.
Kareem: When are you coming back?
Nicole: Whenever I feel like it…I’m hanging up the phone now. Go call your girlfriend. I’m sure she’s trying to call you.
Kareem: I deserve that…
Nicole: You deserve a whole lot more than that.
Kareem: I deserved that too…please be careful while you’re out there, Nicole.
Nicole: Oh now you wanna play concerned parent with me? Bullshit! *she hung up the phone*
Liana: What the hell was that all about?
Nicole: He wanted to know where I was.
Liana: Why?
Nicole: Girl I don’t know. And as far as I’m concerned, I don’t really care. I’m here in Vegas and Ima have a good time!
Liana: I heard that!
