Thank you, Glenn, for your information. I think that my grandfather, Marvin McCartney, was born in the 1880s or 1890s. I know that he had brothers and sisters, but I do not know any of their names except for one sister named Hazel (McCartney) Anderson. I do have some letters sent to me about 15 years ago by Hazel in which she shared some of the McCartney history. I am currently trying to locate these letters; they are in storage. To the best of my recollection, she specifically mentioned a John McCartney!! I am certain that I remember that name. Do you know any of John's history? Hazel told me an interesting tale about a John McCartney coming to America on a boat, and the boat sank near the shore. Supposedly he rescued a woman from drowning. When I locate her letters, I will certainly share all the information with you. Do you know when any of your relatives may have immigrated to the U.S.? Do you know what towns in Nebraska they lived in? Unfortunately, I do not know the names of Marvin's mother or father (my great-grandparents). It looks as if your grandfather, John, could have been born some time in the late 1800s. That is so interesting. Could John and Marvin have possibly been brothers??? You know, there really aren't that many McCartneys; I've never met another one in my 52 years on earth! Do you know the name of the town in which your dad was born? I will definitely share all information that I find with you! Thank you so much for your response.
