More 120s were marketed to men and women at first. The first ads I ever saw had no models in them, so basically they were not directed at one particular gender. A few early ads featured both men and women in them. There was a couple of early ads that had both men and women smoking them in the same ad. I might mention all ads with men had like a sophisticated man in them. Not a burly outdoors type. They were pushing them to metro-sexuals before that word entered the lexicon. Later a shift was made to women models only. Honestly I have probably seen as many men smoking them as women as far as real life sightings go.
My dad actually tried them when they first came out. I remember him making a comment to my mom about them being for men only. My dad was not what I would call a metro-sexual. Far from it! At least to him the were a mans cigarette. Later I did see women smoking them. Even later the switch was made to only women models in the ads. Once they started pushing them to women only the stigma of woman's cigarette kind of took hold.
More 120s to me are kind of like an enigma. Really they are not like any other cigarette. They have attributes of both what is considered masculine and feminine. I consider myself masculine. All man, but still smoke them and love to see women smoke them also.
