RealPlayer version mix 'n' match

Is there a way to install one or more versions of RealPlayer that Tara can use (like RealPlayer version 8), but also play newer Real media streams?
For example, at some point in the past when I had a version of RealOne player installed, I got an error message indicating that this stream requires RealPlayer 10:
http://webcast.ucsd.edu:8080/ramgen/UCSD_TV/11546.rm
Now I am running a fresh installation of Windows 2000 with no Real player installed, and am trying to figure out which version to install.
