Tara and Real Player

Hello Folks,
Can I just clarify something about your Tara plugin please.
To use Tara must you have the full version of Real Player installed or will it work with the Real Alternative Codecs option.
I want to get rid of Real Player altogether but I can't find any other media player that handles live real streaming...Tara could be be the answer if i can use it in conjunction with Real Alternative.
