In Nullsoft's MPEG (in_mp3) plugin there is a configuration option to load the entire file into memory. I could see that causing problems for a huge file. There are also thread priorities that you can play with. There are also other versions and other MP3 plugins to play with... Winamp is not restricting you to use the in_mp3 plugin that came with that particular version of Winamp. If you didn't experience the problem with an old version of Winamp, then use the old version of in_mp3.dll. Good luck ![]()
: Well--I take it back--Winamp sped up again and my CPU shot up
: to 100%. I'm not sure what causes that CPU spike--and only
: when I'm playing long streams with Winamp--never Media
: Player

: Never happens with Media Player--strictly with Winamp, and
: doesnt appear to be a CPU issue. I'll take a closer look
: next time it happens. I'm not clear on the plug-in
: reference. All the standard Nullsoft plug-ins are listed in
: the input area. Do I need to configure the plug in a
: certain way? Thanks for your input

: I've never heard of this but I'll try and help...
:
: Check "Task Manager" when the slow downs happen.
: Is your CPU maxed out? Also try to play with the
: configuration setting in the Nullsoft MPEG plugin, there
: are lots of options that could fix the problem for you.
: Lastly, did you try playing the MP3 back with Media
: Player... just to make sure there isn't anything wrong with
: it?

: This isnt a Spinamp related inquiry. I wondered, however,
: if
: anyone has experienced an oddity with Winamp, when
: listening to a large MP3 file (i.e--rebroadcast of a an
: hour long show, or a live stream), wherein the player
: suddenly speeds up or slows down. I have to stop and
: restart or rebuffer Winamp to correct it. This temporarily
: resolves the problem. Anyone ever experience this, and/or
: have an idea for a fix? I am using version 5.24, though it
: has occurred on earlier versions

: Thanks
