rmx files with wimamp/tara

I'm having trouble getting realjukebox (.rmx) files to play. I think I've installed and configured things properly. Winamp will play .mp3 files, and will show .rmx files as known file types, but when one is selected for play the counter never moves and no sound is heard. No error messages are displayed.
I didn't see a how-to for this and didn't find anything searching the past messages.
