Well, with all her pleading, I gave in - when? On the day they returned to PC in the police station. I was hooked. My friend left for London for six months in October 1980 and it was up to me to write full daily synopses so she didn't miss a moment.
I'm so grateful for youtube and the uploaders because I never saw any GH till they returned home. I only saw the compilation VHS tapes.
She died 15 years ago and her husband gave me the letters she kept of mine and I have her letters and it's so much fun to read them. She'd ask me
such specific questions only a true LnL fan would ask.
Her family had a betamax VCR back then, so she'd tape them and I'd come over to watch 5 shows in a row - with a lot of stopping the tape for comments. I think about how we would have watched on youtube...
Nina, a group of us visited that location on a LnL weekend that we organized. We had a fabulous time together remembering favorite scenes and perhaps the greatest love story ever on a soap or anywhere else. You cat bring them back for a sequel, but there i always Youtube for memories. Glad that you were able to do it!
I think a few people here have gone there
I’m visiting LA now and was at a museum on Wilshire blvd and wondered how far it was from the location. It was about 3 miles away so I took an Uber car. As soon as I saw the crescent shaped
buildings I held my breath. I kind of really got excited.
I was the only one in the open circular plaza. I walked in a circle
all the way around. On the opposite side were
picnic tables. I sat down and watched a few minutes of the LHB scenes around the fountain. It hasn’t changed much at all. New trees, flowers and landscaping around the fountain. Those infamous lanterns are there and the arched doorways all the way around. Across the street was the same large building.
They picked a great place to film those scenes because it’s so large
and open. I saw the balcony above where I think Sally or Hutch was standing. I remembered the staircase and tried to find it but I got a little scared because there was a mentally ill person jumping all over the tables. They may have filmed a few locations and edited them together. The whole neighborhood did not feel safe even though it was 5 pm in full daylight. Later, my friends told me that neighborhood had a lot of issues.
But I had a ball imagining the scenes while standing there all alone with my memories. Like there’s the tree where Luke found the Laura imposter! There’s the spot where Luke realized that Hutch was the hitman!
