Luke is the great love of her life, but too much of Luke’s heart had been spent on Laura.
Well said, that has always been my comfort reason as to why they ultimately couldn’t be together anymore. Luke couldn’t deal with the guilt, grief and pain he perceived he caused Laura. She was the one thing in his life he’d wanted to protect and he failed. Tracy got a she’ll of the real man and I think she always knew it.
First off I’m not sure there’s ever been a more intense scene of longing between them. This is L&L at their most sensual, most romantic. Tony and Genie are masterful together here. It’s too bad that the tired wedding clips follows them around instead of material like this.
What Luke says here about his love for Laura being too much, that he’s avoiding it because it has the power to consume and destroy him. That’s the key to what happened to Luke decades later. The decades of loving and losing Laura just became unbearable.
I really think something broke in Luke after Laura went back into the coma in 2006. I’ll never forget the anguish that Luke was in after she slipped away; some of Tony’s best work. I think now it’s best to accept that once Laura was gone, with Luke assuming for good, he had to close the door on their love story or he wouldn’t have any way to move beyond the soul crushing grief.
These shows are worse than M&M's candy. You can't just have one. As soon as I post this I'm turning off the computer, got chores to do!

I think my favorite is the "mysterious box" scene in the sticky door era. And in Tony's recent interview, he eluded to a scene that he and Genie improvised. He didn't say what scene, but I do think it's that one (and it's been discussed as such by fans for many years). I have so much respect for their ability to do this scene with their own dialogue and actions. Just amazing.
During this time of quarantine I’m sure more than few of us are indulging in L&L’s vast trove of material.
I thought it would be fun to post some of our favorite moments that aren’t the usual, major L&L milestones. So I’m not talking Wyndhams dance, wedding, mayor’s lawn reunion, sailboat seduction, the helicopter jump, Laura revealing Nik, identifying Lucky’s body, waking from the coma, or any their most popular moments.
If possible, please post clips. If you can’t, describe the scene to us. Let’s have fun!
