And it was hospital-based, far more interesting than the mob stuff that happened later. Honestly, Gloria Monty brought in the mob, but she knew how to control it and make it "the bad guys". Later EP didn't have that savvy, and they wanted to create The Sopranos Light. The show lost its relevance when it moved away from the hospital. I was watching GH in the late 60's before LnL came on the canvas, and the stories were human, compelling drama. It was filled with characters who were sympathetic...not the dark, soulless creatures who inhabit the place now. It's been more than 2 years since I have even glimpsed an episode. For those who are still watching....
Other than to see Genie, is there any reason to come back?
3 Women Doctors in the 70's Gail, Lesley and Monica. Gail was Monica's foster mom also not talked about very much before that show (orphanages/fostering etc). Gail is the one that called Scottie and got him to come home when Lee's wife died. (2nd wife) Said Lee needed him. Her husband died (don't remember much about him) and Gail & Lee got together. Scottie was working at the hospital where he met a girl Named Laura... 1977 was a big year.
Sad news indeed. But she lived a long, and seemingly fruitful life. I hope her loved ones take comfort in that.
Gail was still on the show back when I started watching in middle school in the 90s. I remember being a kid and assuming she (and all the other older characters) had been in Port Charles since the beginning of the show. I liked Lee and Gail, and assumed they'd always been married. Imagine my shock when I learned much later than people like Lee, Steve, and Audrey actually had messy love lives and weren't always happily married LOL!
I'm pretty sure she ended up moving over to the spin-off, Port Charles, some time in the late 90s. The last time she was on GH was in 2004 for Lila's funeral.
