So, they completely trashed Laura. "Miss Star Eyes" reflected the idea that Genie had stars in her eyes. That's how I always took that name choice. She was going to another network to be a star of a prime time soap show. Why shouldn't she have capitalized on her fame and taken her shot? The sad truth is that neither Tony or Genie achieved the popularity with others that they had together as Luke and Laura.
They moved Luke on much too quickly. Emma Samms was charming, but it was not like LnL at all. She clicked with Tristan. They had their great leading man, but he needed a partner, and no one compared with Genie. The LnL story was special. They had done their jobs too well. They had convinced us that LNL were a love story for the ages.
By the way, Tony's portrayal of Luke grieving Laura in his stateroom to, "Key Largo" will break your heart.
This Ms. Starry Eyes story was just very badly written. Since when did Laura dream of being a model? All of a sudden she wants to be a star? She's also acting very diva-like in moments. Very out of character writing for the newly minted Ms. Laura Spencer. Even the writing for Robert is off; he seems to be losing brain cells, to have forgotten that he was a major WSB agent in several scenes. Folks talk about the more modern day writing being bad, but sheesh this stuff was awful. It's really been downhill since the wedding.
This David Grey ring stuff looks stupid. But the creeping sense of dread leading up to Laura's disappearance is palpable.
Laura has been gone for several clips. Jackie Templeton has just come on, and Demi was a natural from the beginning. Can't believe how much Janine Turner as Laura Templeton looks like Genie as Laura Spencer. Also surprise that the two Lauras shared a moment onscreen, never realized that happened. For some reason I always thought the Templeton sisters came on after Laura was gone.
Tony Geary is already breaking our hearts and this missing story just started. He's playing Luke on the verge of all out panic, trying so hard to keep hope alive during the search, and it's truly tremendous work. I can tell my wife is going to be devastated by his performance.
My wife also has no clue that Laura is gone for a long time. I'm gonna let the story play out on it's own. She actually thinks Laura will be back in like a week.
Also, funny enough? After a big fight between Luke and Jackie, wifey says "Wow, if Laura was actually gone I'd like to see them together!".
