GH, in its day, was a total joy. I never minded working my day around it. That one hour was an escape and a chance to catch up with what felt like old friends. I knew those characters and really loved them. Actors stayed on the show for long periods and were respected by the audience. Maybe they didn't get the respect they deserved in the industry, but the audience knew how hard the work was for them and how talented many of the actors were to memorize pages of dialogue week after week and month after month with no break.
Somewhere along the way, GH lost its vision and mission. It became a show about empty characters without souls and stories without morality. It was depressing for me to sit there for an hour and watch power plays of mobsters and deviants. I don't have to make room for that in my day. The cable news takes care of that for me. So, if and when GH decides to take a turn away from the grim and miserable and produce something uplifting, I might return. Otherwise, I am a former viewer.

: DOOL still have vets on the show from the
: 70's. Doug and Julie were my Mom's favorite
: couple and they are still a couple on Days
: after 3 decades and they are in their 70's
: and 80's. They still have the families that
: were on since the show began just the next
: generations. Patch and Kayla were a hot
: couple in the early 80's and are still a
: couple on the show still with stories
: written around them. Ron C has integrated
: these characters where it's about family and
: there are no mobsters. Of course there are
: bad guys and that is what makes a show
: interesting but the bad guys are NOT the
: stars of the show like GH. I still watch GH
: and have my favs but never like in the old
: days.
