Now about Frank Valentini. I thought Jill Phelps was a terrible producer. She just about tanked the show, and she was hateful to many of the cast. But I haven't been happy with Valentini either, and I'm surprised that the network has kept him. His bungle with Prospect Park and the OLTL characters should have been enough to do him in. His casting decisions have done more to undermine GH since Gloria Monty left. How many characters has Michael Easton played? Why was Roger Howarth plunked down as James Franco? The actress playing Nell should never have been cast so soon after playing young Pat Spencer. Valentini has totally destroyed the feel of "reality" on this show. Valentine's vision for GH is the same depressing format that Phelps followed. He is unimaginative and lacks an understanding of this genre and what and who the audience wants to see.
Genie Francis has played a foundation character on this show since the 1970's. She is a brilliant actress. She is adored by the audience. Laura is still meaningful and relevant to her millions of fans. Why would Frank Valentini make room for Tamara Braun, Maura West, Michele Stafford, Rebecca Budig, and a host of others and allow Laura Wright to soak up airtime when Genie Francis is pushed to the margins? They had a popular partnership with Jon Lindstrom that people were excited about. Why did they not give him a contract and go forward with that?
If this pod cast is true, It seems that Genie received the news in the most insulting way. How do you not even have the grace to tell someone that their status has changed? Valentini should be fired for that alone. It is outrageous. Does she have a recourse...a law suit...that they broke the contract? Can they just cut her off like that? If so, what good is a contract to the talent? They should jettison Mr. Valentini.
