They could clean up GH in a flash if they wanted to, but Maurice would have to leave or demand a change. That is the only way that it would work, IMO.
They have the actor and character who could do it in place, Dante. I think he is attractive enough and good enough as an actor to be the instrument to bring justice to P.C. They have Lucky as a strong actor in a police role who could also assist. They could shift the show from bad guys to good guys. Jason has always been protected. He could move back to the Q's without problem. But Sonny would have to go and take his organization with him. THAT AIN'T HAPPENING AS LONG AS BOB GUZA IS WRITING THIS SHOW.
What are we left with? We are left with a twisted morality where the good guys are very bad guys with no redeeming value and who don't belong on daytime television. Even cable would have trouble with the kind of writing that Bob Guza does. Guza is a very sick guy, and Hollywood has rewarded his writing...the most sickening thing of all.
If Mo cared one bit about this show, he would go in to the writers and tell them he has had enough. He has had enough of playing a very sick character who is being touted as a hero. Either they turn Sonny around and have him cooperate with the feds to bring down the mob, or he leaves. That MIGHT save GH and, ultimately, his job too. Some personal sacrifice is required here. I think that this man, Maurice Bernard, should have a social conscience and feel some sort of responsibility to his fellow actors and this show. Don't you?
We have been concentrating on Genie and getting her back. I don't think we have a chance in hell as long as this mob show continues under Bob Guza. Laura's gentleness and authenticity have no place on the canvas the way things are being written now. When was the last time any romantic story was given a front burner on GH?
I question whether ABC has any serious interest in saving GH. They brought back JJ, but that was just a cheap casting trick. It is not the same as making a serious change to save the show. That could only happen by getting a new producer with some REAL creative power to control Bob Guza or by dumping Guza altogether and changing the focus with new writers.
I wonder how far the ratings have to drop before they either change or cancel GH. It all looks pretty futile to me.

: After watching today's program a lot of
: thoughts came to mind as to the future
: direction of GH. Like you Maryanne I'm
: thinking is the end of the Claudia s/l and
: the subsequent cover up be the low point
: under the current regime and they have to
: finally have to show real consequences for
: Sonny and Jason? I know some are laughing
: at this and things will not change and
: continue as they have for the last few
: years. But let's look at the current
: situation.
:
: Sonny instead of taking Claudia out after
: the party privately publicly announces what
: she done in front of the who's who in Port
: Charles. He orders her men to take her, she
: pulls out a gun and takes Carly hostage.
: There are what 50 witnesses at least to
: this.
:
: Now Carly and baby turn up safe and sound
: from the kidnapping and Claudia is nowhere
: to be found. Already Carly, Jason,
: Samantha, Sonny and Jax aleady know Micheal
: killed her. But this group will keep their
: motuhs shut. The real problems I see is how
: what happened to Claudia not be an issue for
: her brother Johnny and Dominic/Dante. Dante
: today has already declared that Sonny was
: responsible for Claudia death and the body
: isn't even cold yet. Whether she was in the
: wrong or not I don't think Johnny is going
: to rest until he finds out what happened to
: his sister. Are Sonny and Jason simply
: going to state she disappeared after the car
: wreck. The henchman who questioned Jason
: today about burning down the cabin where
: Carly gave birth and Claudia killed gets
: burned down in a rainstorm was right. Its a
: red flag. Maxie seeing a blood red
: handprint on Sonny's chest today. All the
: witnesses to the Sonny/Claudia
: confrontation, Claudia/Carly kidnapping and
: all of a sudden Carly is okay and Caludia is
: nowhere to be found? Robin's statement
: concerning being tired of the violence in
: Port Charles and Sonny always being in the
: center of it. There's defintely some smoke
: here - but who would take action? Just
: about everyone is compromised to some
: extent.
:
: Dante is the first choice but have no doubt
: the revelation about Sonny being his father
: will come out before he finally arrests
: Sonny, then what does he do. Lulu - now
: knowing Dante is an undercover cop intent on
: taking down Sonny and the consequences it
: will have to her relatives and friends, what
: does she do. Maxie's seeing what she saw
: today will eventually involve Spinelli - if
: Maxie is threatened with what she has seen
: today would he assist in being down
: Sonny/Jason. What will Micheal do - will
: his upcoming romance somehow caouse conflict
: with his desire to follow in Sonny's path?
: That leaves Robin for now. Now that she is
: a mother she may have a different
: perspective on Sonny, enough to motivate her
: to take action to lessen the mob violence.
: The next couple of months will tell.
:
: If the current regime continues on the
: current path, however GH should rightfully
: be removed from daytime tv and made into a
: nighttime soap. The show is now way too
: dark for daytime.

:
: Just to warn you, Claudia dies today in a
: VERY violent way. After helping Carly
: deliver her baby, Claudia attempted to steal
: the baby away, placing her in a basket and
: walking out the door. Michael walks in and,
: no joke, picks up a baseball and bashes
: Claudia in the head. The basket with the
: baby falls to the floor, and Claudia is
: dead, on the cabin floor, eyes open, blood
: running down her face from her shatttered
: skull.
:
: I HATED Claudia, and could talk easily about
: all the disturbing things I wanted to see
: done to her. But the actuality of it was
: brutal, ugly, and extremely inappropriate
: for Daytime
:
: I totally agree with everything that you
: said, but I think this show being very
: disterbing is an understatement. It was way
: beyond that.I can't even discribe how
: horrified I was at seeing those scenes
: today. I think the thing that got to me the
: most was how Sonny and everyone else is
: going to handle the situation. I mean, I too
: hated Claudia, and I'm glad she's gone, but
: I wish that her exit was something that
: didn't have to do with the mob. The sad
: thing is, every time that something like
: this happens, everyone starts talking about
: how dangerous Sonny and Jason are to
: everyone around them, but yet the next
: minute, nobody is doing anything to stop the
: violence in that town. Could this time be
: the time when someone does something about
: it? I'm hoping that the show will go in a
: completly different direction with putting
: the mob on the backburner, but I doubt it. I
: especially hope that if nothing else, Sonny
: moves out of the mob. I would like for him
: to do it for Michael's sake, but I don't
: think I see that happening in the near
: future.
