Genielove, I don't know who you are or what privileged information you think you have regarding TG, but I would like to remind you that this board supports BOTH TG and GF, and I, personally, don't appreciate your slamming him on speculation that you might have picked up from negative posters on other boards who also know nothing about what is going on behind the scenes at GH.
I think it is only fair to judge Tony based on what he says in interviews or in public. I trust the public interviews more than the print as things are taken out of context and often are editorialized. When Genie won her Emmy, Tony stood beside her and announced to the entire soap world that he wanted her back. Does that sound like a man who is standing in her way?
I don't think that he has the kind of power that you think he does. Yes, he wants a story, and he was promised that when he signed his last contract. Has he gotten one? The Ethan thing was a disaster for him and the show. I, truthfully, don't think he saw it coming although a number of us personally warned him about it when we saw him last March.
Have you ever met Mr. Geary? Have you ever met anyone who has ever met Mr. Geary? Well, I have met him..several times. He is a kind and gentle soul. I can't even imagine how you got that he is egotistical. He is anything but. He is a very modest person. He does not like the limelight. He is considerate and caring. He is beloved by cast members, crew and the people who know him. He is willing to take risks. He supports his show. He is very fond of Jane Elliott, and they have been friends for many years. This is not a question of Jane or Genie. The show should turn its focus away from the mob and shine a light on a great love triangle...Luke/Tracy/Laura...while they still have a chance to do it. TG, JE, and GF would all love it. By the way, it might interest you to know that Genie and Jane are friends as well, and Jane is a fabulous actress who is being totally wasted as Luke's wife, IMO.
There is one person who makes the decisions about casting. That person is Brian Frons. He holds the purse strings, and he can push or deny a story as well as an actor or actress. If he wanted Genie, we would have Genie. Even Jill Phelps would not be able to keep her off GH. Jill is another issue as she has her personal favorites, and she has issues with strong actresses. I think she also has personal issues with Genie. We can speculate about that, but Genie would not be the first actress who has had problems with Jill Phelps.
I could say more here in defense of my position on this issue, but I won't because it is not something that I want to see going all over the internet. Suffice it to say that I have personally seen and heard the power of Mr. Frons and Jill Phelps in running GH. Even Bob Guza bows to them. So, don;t be deluded into thinking that TG is calling the shots over at GH. It is just not so.

: I agree with the poster who thinks Tony Geary
: made a deal and part of that deal was to
: keep Genie offscreen so his good buddy Jane
: Elliott (tracy) could remain in the
: forefront. I've said this time and again
: that one person with some clout is keeping
: Genie off the show even though her
: appearances bring the ratings up. GH is
: willing to lose ratings just to keep Tony
: Geary happy--Why? I don't know, this past 6
: months he has a hate thread on almost every
: site. I once loved him now I can't stand
: the character or Tony G. I think Tony G's
: ego stands in the way of Genie's return.
: Just my suspicion but it seems to ring true
: if you read his interviews as of late. He
: forgot his popularity was because he was one
: half of a Supercouple.

: This view would fly with me a year or two
: ago, when Luke's story was becoming
: extremely marginalized, and shuffled off to
: the back burner. But Tony's a savvy man, and
: under this new contract he has gotten A LOT
: more relevant screentime, and story.
:
: Let's not forget, they gave Luke a new son
: in the early part of the year, made a big to
: do about rewritng L&L's history, and even
: brought back Emma Samms just for Tony's
: story. That was the biggest front burner,
: buzz worthy (negative buzz), story Luke's
: had in quite awhile.
:
: And since he's been back from vacation he's
: had the inkings of the Valentine story, JJ
: is back which I do believe was largely due
: to them wanting to resell Luke, and he's
: being thrust into the Lucky/Liz/Nik
: triangle, which is gearing up to be huge.
: And also, don't forget, the big
: Cassidine/Spencer story was suppose to be
: huge right now, but they pushed it back to
: speed up Claudia's ending. That is still
: lurking.
:
: Geary isn't going anywhere, if Geary has his
: say. He's made it clear that he has NO
: intention of retiring anytime soon. And it's
: very, very clear to me that when he
: negotiated his last contract, someone at the
: top made sure Luke wasn't going to stay the
: supporting character any longer.
