Here is the bottom line for us, and it isn't pretty. They view LnL as a story of the past. They don't feel that it brings in the demographic they are seeking. Look at how they are using Tony. The other day he was peeking around the corner as Liz and Nik were kissing. That is clearly the mark of a supporting character. Luke has not driven a story in a few years. He and Tracy are peripheral characters now. JJ was brought back because he brings in older viewers as well as younger ones (possibly). He creates a triangle with Tyler and Becky. They are willing to pay him whatever, but they are NOT willing to pay Genie what she is worth, if we can accept that rumor on DD.
Genie needs to get back on GH. She needs to work her magic with Tony and affect the ratings. If I were advising her, I would tell her to take what they are offering for a 2 year contract that would make her schedule jive with Tony's. I would tell her to ask for the same months off. She could then do whatever in her spare time...make TV movies, summer in Maine, do her buying for her shop.
I'm sad to say this, but I think the possibility of her returning to GH are numbered. Tony is going to leave soon, and then her opportunity will even be less than it is now. Who knows if Gh will even be around 2 years from now?
People all over the country are taking pay cuts and losing jobs. The daytime industry is spiraling down so quickly that it makes your head spin. They have little money to spare. The whole entertainment industry is being rocked by the economy. If Genie is being offered a job at GH, she should take it while she still can. That would be my advice to her.
