I didn't have to violate my principle! LOL It was an incredible scene. I could see in JJ's eyes that he was speaking to Genie. It was intense. JJ credits Genie and Tony with teaching him so much about acting and he definitely got the "speaking with the eyes" from them both.
It seems like he slid back into the role like one slips into a comfortable pair of old jeans. He is good - an incredible actor. I imagine Tony is over the moon to have him back.
I hope Genie is sure to follow. I just don't know at this point. I still felt my stomach churn watching it because I wouldn't put it past the ba$tard$ over there to make this the new "wig". Listening to the conversation, it made me so sad that Genie isn't there to be sitting with him and consoling him. He kept looking up as he spoke, that didn't escape me, as if he were pleading with a higher power for her to appear.
Incredible is the word for the scene: Incredible in power; incredible in delivery; incredible in nostalgia; incredible in that old Spencer magical way; and most of all incredible in sadness that it is the way it is over there, and JJ's on-screen Mama wasn't brought back on the heels of his re-entry. It made me cry. I hope/pray someone over there comes to their senses and realize that the show won't be complete without the heart of its show back at its center. That scene today just re-iterated what a glaring hole remains in this show! JMO
