I'll let Sue answer the Lytton question, as she is responsible for choosing Miss Lytton's name.
Poor Caroline Bingley, to be surrounded by so many poor excuses for suitors! Each one is a piece of work! Will she realize the truth about any of them before it's too late?
And Cleora? She isn't a bad girl or even an especially daring girl. It's just that she's fifteen and desperate. And her new step-mother isn't as observant as she should be. After all, what harm is there in a letter? Cleora knows better than to roll her eyes, but can you hear her early-teen voice saying, "Daa-aad!!!" If she called Patrick McGillvary "Dad." Which she doesn't.
There will be no after-dinner conversation in the next chapter (sorry) but there's plenty more "fat in the fire" just the same. We'll begin on the following morning by looking in at the breakfast table of a certain someone who pays to have the Bath newspapers brought the extra 60 miles. What do you suppose will happen when the announcement of Elizabeth's marriage is discovered??
