Hey, thanks for coming by to say hello! I see you're up to your old tricks, too: asking questions for which I have no answer!
What day is it? Crud, I don't know! 
As usual, the timeline of Mercy's Embrace lumbers along, one detail-laden day at a time, without regard to our real-life "hurry-up" calendar. Let's see: As I recall the officer's dinner (written last year!) was on a Friday. So I suppose it's early in the following week, Monday or Tuesday. Chapters 1-4 of Mercy's Hard Bargain cover one day. Hm, probably Monday, since Sir Walter traveled on the Mail not long after his mishap in the harbor.
It's not that Elizabeth and Patrick wish to be out on the town so soon after their wedding--they don't! But the hasty marriage brought a tidal wave of gossip. Patrick McGillvary doesn't give a hang about scandal. But Elizabeth does, and she must must live it down, if only for Cleora's sake.
Tonight we will have Chapter 5 (day two), and things won't get any easier for Elizabeth and Patrick. For one thing, Ronan's still around, whining for money. Now that she's a part of the family, Elizabeth will put her oar in. She's about to hatch a plan which will solve all their problems with Ronan. Or so she thinks ..
