... that grab our interest! That's the fun (and the frustration) of serialized fiction ... suspense! Prequels--or stories where the ending is already known--are not nearly as much fun to read.
Thanks for the feedback, Kate. And I hope you enjoy the installment! It's a one-day writing event, so the chapters aren't as long as I'd like them to be.
