Sure I remember Dallas! In this case there are no contract negotiations to use as an excuse ... just my own brain freeze!
SO ... somehow I managed to FORGET the ending to my own story, namely that I left Elizabeth and Patrick at the altar about to be married. This isn't the first time I've forgotten something I've written, incredible though it seems. As I recollect, I stayed up all night long to finish that installment, with my loyal Susan Kaye on AIM to encourage me along. What would I do without a good friend like Sue?
Therefore I will adjust Chapter 1 of Mercy's Hard Bargain to take the wedding into account. Poof: They're married! But I don't mind; there's plenty of story in that. These hasty, last-minute weddings don't always come off as well as we think, do they? Real life has a habit of intruding on our romantic plans. For there are a few things Patrick and Elizabeth haven't taken into account, namely, Cleora. They can hardly go running off on a honeymoon trip and ditch Patrick's motherless daughter, not when she barely knows Elizabeth. Then too, Patrick isn't officially retired from the navy until July. So forget running off to a foreign destination ...
So, back I go to Chapter 1 to fix things. Not hard to do, simply change a couple of words. Sir Walter will still throw his hissy fit in the tub. Married? How can Elizabeth be married to a sailor? Nice.
THANKS, Karen, for the heads-up! I so appreciate you throwing me a lifeline to rescue my story!
