It's just Elizabeth who seems to have forgotten that she also knows Patrick Gill very well. She's thinking he made a fool out of her and had fun playing with her emotions. But, the reality is that it was his emotions that were being brought up to the surface. I think he thinks he is desperate and will do whatever it takes to secure her as his wife. Look at what lengths he went to in order to remove her from her 'engagement' to Rushworth! This man means business and for once in his life he can't order someone to do as he wants! Of course Elizabeth will be angry at him, but maybe not if she needs to be 'rescued' from WWE. This story once again has the feel of a Keystone Cops chase scene! I love the confusion and the chaos. How Laura keeps it all straight is a mystery to me. But, I certainly appreciate her ability to weave a wonderful tale.

Nope. I think he knows exactly what he's doing. He knows she's mad at him, so he's going to use Benwick's confusion to make her look compromised.
