Posted by Laura Louise Well, we all know that Mary landed Charles Musgrove because she was Anne's sister, and she knew how to behave in company so he thought she was just like Anne. Also, Mary was a daughter of the leading family in the area and Charles, being a dutiful son, wished to marry well. I've always wondered if the grief caused by his reprobate brother Richard pushed Charles toward "marrying well," although Jane tells us his parents did not push any of their children in this area. No, I can safely say that MARY won't be eloping with anybody. Although you're right, SK, it would be fun to put Mary in and Ronan in the same room just to see what happens! What a whinefest!

I mean, what does the woman have to offer a man? Good looks? Pleasant conversation? Commendable parenting? Thriftiness? Excellent health? (a-hem!) Passionate lovemaking skills? A large dowry? What?
