Posted by Heidi Former warlord Taylor becomes the first serving head of state to face war crimes charges since Slobodan Milosevic was indicted by the U.N. tribunal for the former Yugoslavia at The Hague. The indictment was announced by the tribunal in the Sierra Leonean capital Freetown soon after Taylor arrived in neighboring Ghana for peace talks with Liberian rebels who have been trying to topple him since 2000.
