A former president awaiting trial on charges of war crimes could serve his prison sentence in Milton Keynes if convicted.
Charles Taylor, the ex-Liberian president, has been indicted on eleven counts of war crimes including murder, rape and recruitment of child soldiers.
This newspaper understands Woodhill Prison is one of only a handful of jails capable of housing such an inmate in this country. It is on the shortlist to do so if he is jailed.
The Category A prison has a specialist closed supervision centre - dubbed the Hannibal Lector wing - which is designed to hold a small number of inmates who are amont the most iddicult and disruptive in the prison system.
