I've been here all along, and over on your board as well. With Wikipedia (since I've done a lot of editing there over the years) and FaceBook, Xroads and and your Folk Chat are my most regular daily stops on the internet.
I haven't been posting for the best of all possible reasons - I often don't have anything original to say. Twenty years on these two boards and 220 separate articles about (mostly KT) songs on my Comparative Video 101 folk music blog have covered lots of bases for me. I try on occasion to keep CV101 current, since the YouTube videos that are its backbone tend to come and go, but doing so would be akin to a part time job. (Most of the articles remain in pretty good shape as far as the videos go).
The years haven't dimmed my love of folk music, and I play my guitars every day and often for friends. Also, I'm hoping to get back to Scottsdale for the Fantasy Camp/Americana Camp swan song this August.
Or as John Stewart wrote in one of his better Trio-era songs -
When you've been away from the music in your heart,
When you've been away for a long time.
The songs come back again like an old familiar friend
When you've been away for a long time.
Hey Jim, great to hear from you! Where you been?
And very nicely done it is. I'd been wondering for a while what happened to these guys - they seem to have dropped off the musical map some years ago. Or perhaps more accurately, acoustic folk-based music has maybe retreated farther into the niche that mainstream pop and rock have seemed to have assigned it to.
Always loved that song.
