The Highwaymen In Concert discusses the legal battle over the name between these guys and the Cash/Jennings/Kristofferson/Nelson supergroup. [His Honor] Steve Trott relates how they filed suit in federal court for copyright infringement. The suit was naturally filed in the 9th Circuit, his own. Said it gave new meaning to the term "Home Court Advantage." The battle was ended amicably and the two groups performed in a concert together in Hollywood.
Steve relates that he and Willie N. were talking about the 1960s at the concert and Willie used the line Max posted about recently: "If you can remember the 60s...you weren't there."
