By the end of this excellent story written by Rod Serling, Roddy McDowell's character is living in a lovely apartment but caged in.
A curtain opens and he sees these human look-a-likes staring at him as if Roddy is in a zoo. Roddy McDowell looks out and says:
"People Are Alike All Over"
In 1948, a plane carrying 32 persons, mostly Mexican farm laborers, crashed in Los Gatos. Most of these passengers were illegal immigrants being deported.
Next morning, when Woody Guthrie read the headlines, it stated:
"Deportees Killed In Plane Crash At Los Gatos Canyon"
Woody Guthrie was furious! These words trickled into his head and Woody quickly wrote them down for a song:
"You won't have a name when you ride the big airplane. All they will call you will be Deportee"
Absolutely things like that happen nowadays and will continue to happen as long as mankind exists. I'm convinced it's a law of the Universe. Sad ...
One man died of a knife so sharp
One man died from the bullet of a gun
One man died of a broken heart
To see the lynching of his son
Long Ago, Far Away
Things like that don't happen no more, nowadays
Do they?
- Bob Dylan
