So why have Bob Nick Dave & John been 'DISSMISSED'? It's because the people in charge don't know any better. By now Kingston Trio fans are used to our guys being snubbed!
Max, forgive me for going off topic, but since you mentioned JONI MITCHELL...it gives me a chance to praise Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs
for re-issuing Joni's album "BLUE". (originally released in 1971)
ROLLING STONE Magazine rated Joni's "BLUE" LP to be the third "Best Album of All Time"....and the best one ever recorded by a female vocalist.
That's the good news.
Now for the "not so good" news !!!
On the list of ROLLING STONE Mag's 500 best recordings of all time, how is it that THE KINGSTON TRIO never made their list?
=> NOT ONE KINGSTON TRIO ALBUM ???
If you visit super online record websites such as Acoustic Sounds or Elusive Discs, you will find hundreds of re-issues on 180 gram vinyl....
but NOT ONE KINGSTON TRIO ALBUM !!!
Don't get me wrong. I love JONI MITCHELL and I'm very glad she's got her "BLUE" album getting the 180 gram vinyl treatment....
as well as a special Limited Edition Mobile Fidelity Sound "Ultra Disc"....which sells for $128 (+ shipping).
In fact, Mobile Fidelity (Mofi) has released a lot of JONI MITCHELL albums plus a whole lot more from all sorts of artists but not one by THE KINGSTON TRIO.
Oh yes, way back in the 1980s, Mofi released THE KINGSTON TRIO's "GOIN' PLACES" album on CASSETTE (not an LP)....
but since then...nothing. I've written letters to Mobile Fidelity Sound + Acoustic Sounds + Elusive Discs....to no avail. (no reply)
It's kinda like the TV series "Hogan's Heroes" when Col Klink is talking to Col Hogan and all of a sudden Klink screams out at him....
>>> "DISS-MISS" Brucester
"Carey" / Joni Mitchell / LP: "Blue"
