Thanks Max, By a strange coincidence I sang this song last Friday at a local get together, it was 2nd in a set that began with "The Honey Wind". Must have been in a "Glen" mood that night.
Thanks for posting the various renditions. Of the choices, I still prefer Glen Yarbrough's. Another tenor, Jimmie Rodgers, version is nice as well. Of course I loved the FLT version, having said that...I'd have preferred if they let Rick do the all the verses. That song just lends itself to a great tenor voice.
Having said that I'm still miffed at that "Jerry" guy for getting "My" spot, but que sara sara.
All seriousness aside, I'm getting ready for my 50th year in the biz tour next year. Although I'd played for fun since way back when, it was 1972 when I would start to play paying gigs. My 50th year anniversary tour is in the works, I've got ONE booking so far. :>)
Stay well....TC
Terry ......
I think Rod wrote some of the best songs of the Folk Era.
Glenn Yarbrough recorded many of them.
For me ......
It's a toss up between Loves Been Good To me and World I Used To Know as to which is best....
In 1985, Jackee and Took our first of two trips to california.
I had Jackee take a photo of me standing exactly where they were standing when the Back In Town cover photo was shot.
I was holding the album... I'd taken it with us for the trip.
Unfortunately, the exposure was a little dark.
A while back ....someone else did the same and posted their photo.
I guess that makes two crazy people.
We were all crazy over the Trio and we still are.
Not a bad thing to be crazy about.
I think Glen Campbell played the beginning of it.
These guys do a great job on this song...
I like their version best next to Bob's
Here's Jimmy Rogers doing his version...which I've always liked... I bought the 45. Got it somewhere.
Here's Dick Smoothers
Glenn Yarbrough's
Glen Campbell's
Terry .......give this song a try.
