I think Sherman became too critical of the world evolving around his comfort zone, especially the music that was knocking everything "comfortable" off the air.
The morning after the Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan, a neighbor kid of ours combed his hair onto his forehead and took the bus to school, only to be threatened with suspension for violating the dress code. I was still getting a flat-top! How many of us remember similar cases of boys being persecuted for long hair? Reviewing those films of the Beatles and their outrageous haircuts, I can only laugh at the mores of the time. Long hair = Communism!
