I more or less assumed once soldiers got back from the war, things at home would be all right.
I realize this isn't always the case. There are many veterans who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
But admittedly, it is something I don't think about or talk about.
I am also aware that a lot of Crossroaders here...and on Rick Daly's Folk U.S.A.
Forum, are Vietnam combat veterans. And that is why the movie "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE", hit me like a ton of bricks.
The story is based on TRUE EVENTS, and I felt I just had to say something to AMERICANS on this Board.
I know I sometimes go off the track, and I've been criticized for pushing Canada's favourite son, Leonard Cohen (private e-mails, mostly).
But the bottom line is....I treasure Kingston Trio fans on Crossroads + Folk U.S.A.
To me, your Dad is a hero, Joe. All VETERANS are heroes.
And be it here in CANADA, or in the UNITED STATES, I cannot, for the life of me,
understand why our GOVERNMENTS don't do more for them?
: Brucester: You are most certainly welcome. And thanks for thinking about the folks
: (like my dad) who've seen combat. As you know, the Crossroads has a pretty sizable
: population of Vietnam combat vets.......Joe P
