I would trust my intuition this time and say, Bob and his wife had to make a decision as what to do with the Kingston Trio business and rather than have Bobbi Shane pay out the checks, etc, for the duration of her life, they decided to lease the name and simply collect an amount sufficient to see them through their days. What happens to the corporate Kingston Trio after that is probably a matter of purchase. Shane's kids probably have few positive attachments, neither do Guard's or Stewart's. Who does? Josh Reynolds. Maybe Josh can keep the positive energy alive? Now the Josh Trio isn't polished, but it sounds like every college pick-up group that extended from the original Trio, and he has the genetics...
George, for all his loyalty and professional skill (he's the best musician in any of the REAL Trios) wound up regarded as an employee of The Kingston Trio Corporation. Gee, so did John Stewart, who was always kept hanging on a thread by Frank and Bob.
As die-hard fans, camp attendees, breakfast audiences, co-singers, wearers of the tee shirts, you guys have regarded yourself as Kingston Trio family. No you weren't. You were a paying audience.
These are the cold, hard, facts of the matter. Bob did a job and he went home. Now he's exiting the business. Time for die-hards to exit the fantasy.
