Bob Haworth deserves much better than that comment, Wayne. Place-filler? Does that make everyone who sang Nick's parts a place-filler? I won't comment on the smile line. Oops--changed my mind. Such a comment relegates him to the status of a cartoon character. As for the musical saw, Bob plays roughly 100 instruments, and very well, indeed, including the usual Kingston Trio instruments: guitars (6 and 4 strings) and banjos (5 and 4). (Tom Ivey and I visited him in his Golden, Colorado house about ten years ago. He actually owns that many instruments--or did. Maybe not now. Who knows?) And James was right--he's a really nice guy. Anyone who asks me to accompany him on stage earns that moniker, in my book. It was an honor.
: Oh yeah. He was the place-filler with the Ipana smile. Played the musical saw.
