: I find it very hard to accept that if this is truly Bob Shane's announcement that it
: did not come out months ago. Why did it come out only after everything hit the fan.
: As a long time fan(I bought my first Ablum in 1959.) I can say that I feel that I
: have been betrayed by Bob Shane and what he is doing to the Kingston Trio and the
: very loyal group of fans that have supported the various trio combinations over the
: years. This is not a case of someone leaving the group (Dave or John) or passing
: away (Roger) This is a wholesale throw out everyone and give the prize to someone
: else who I don't think has earned it. George has been in the Trio for over 40 years
: and I'm sure that most of us think he deserves something better that this. When Bob
: could no longer go on the road Bill Zorn stepped in and did a fantaqstic job.
: Wonder where Josh and his boys were then. If the current Trio guys wanted to
: retire, why not let us all know so we could show them how much we really appreciate
: their music and their performances. Right now I am very disappointed in Bob Shane
: and what he has done.
: Those of you going to the Fantasy Camp please make sure that the current Trio guys
: understand how much we have loved the preformances and friendship over the years.
: I sure hope that someday these guys will be back on stage and I can enjoy a true
: Kingston Trio Performance.

: To Kingston Trio Fans and family worldwide:
: I am pleased to announce the Kingston Trio legacy will be carried forth by Josh
: Reynolds, Mike Marvin and Tim Gorelangton, who will begin performing as the Kingston
: Trio in October 2017. As you all know, Josh is the son of founding member, and my
: friend and partner Nick Reynolds, and Mike Marvin is Nick’s cousin. Rounding it out
: is Tim Gorelangton, one of the only people Nick ever recorded with outside the Trio.
: It was Nick Reynolds’ and my fondest hope that Josh and Mike would carry on the
: Trio and family legacy.
: Meanwhile, the current lineup of Kingston Trio, George Grove, Bill Zorn, and Rick
: Dougherty are scheduled to retire at the end of September 2017 after years of
: thrilling audiences nationwide.
Bob is simply looking out for Bobbi. I'm sure he talked it up with George, Bill and Rick. I suspect George has other interests there in Las Vegas. At two gigs a month they certainly have a lot of spare time. Bob probably will receive an income from the lease agreement; he surely wouldn't sign away his livelihood completely. Hopefully, George being the main man for forty years will receive some severance bonus from Bob.
: I am also pleased to announce that the Kingston Trio Fantasy Camp commences as
: planned on August 8, 2017 and we are looking forward to a successful week in
: Scottsdale, Arizona.
: The Kingston Trio has been touring nonstop for 60 years, and I am looking forward to
: another sixty years!
