The entire cost of my banjo was $1750 shipped with Gig Bag (it would have cost an additional $50 for a hardshell case but I wanted the gig bag with its cool-looking embroidered Pisgah logo). My Pisgah is less than half the cost of the fancier-looking Vega #2. I was considering a Vega #2 but at $3739 street price, it was kind of steep and the Pisgah delivers much of what the Vega would have but with a slightly deeper and warmer Walnut 12-inch rim tone. If I have Pisgah make me a long-neck banjo, I would have it crafted with a 12-inch maple rim with Tubaphone Tone Ring, and a maple neck. The cost of the long-neck option is $200, so I could have a Pisgah 12" Long-Neck Maple Tubaphone for about $2000 shipped with hard-shell case. Although not having the name recognition of a Vega, a Pisgah long-neck comes in at significantly less than half the cost of a Vega 11" Long-Neck Tubaphone.
: I'm curious about the Tubaphone tone ring.......
: Did you get a newly made one....
: or, did yours come from a Vega ?

: Hi Folks, a while back I solicited information on Acoustic Guitar Forum's
: Stringed Instrument" category about various brands of 5-string open-back banjos
: as I was thinking of getting one. After sifting through the suggestions, I settled
: on commissioning a banjo from Patrick Heavner at Pisgah Banjo Company in Asheville,
: North Carolina. I received my banjo a couple of weeks ago and love its tone, feel
: and build quality. I opted for my banjo to be crafted with a 12-inch Walnut Rim with
: a Tubaphone Tone Ring, a Walnut Neck with a Persimmon Scooped Fingerboard, a
: HawkTail Tailpiece and Traditional Wire Armrest. The company photos show my banjo
: prior to shipping at which time I requested Patrick add a railroad spike at the 10th
: fret, so 7th, 9th and 10th frets are spiked. I highly recommend Pisgah Banjo Company
: as an easy to deal with, high-quality banjo company with reasonable pricing that
: uses native Appalachian hardwoods in crafting its banjos. Folk On!
