The lapel or Lavalier mic can work, I've seen and heard it and it's not bad. They actually are a condenser mic. As with anything else they're not actually designed for that purpose so can be awkward. The K&K Western mini as well as L.R. Baggs produce something close to a correct acoustic sound. They are totally hidden, installation wise but DO require enlarging the strap button opening on the bottom of the guitar body to 1/2 inch. There are options that use a smaller jack but don't hold up well. Most will tell you to avoid a piezo type pick up (quack quack).
BTW I'm a Virgo, I've never been in here before and...get lost creep :>)
: No, not like "Do you come here often?" or "What's your sign?"
: What I'd like to know, as I have no knowledge of pickups, is I'm thinking of having
: a pickup installed on my 1998 Martin 000M, and I'd like to ask those of you who do
: have pickups on Martins, or other acoustic guitars, what's my best bet? What kind,
: and how big a job is it to install the right one? I don't plan on trying to do it
: myself. I'll have someone install it for me. But what's a good choice? And I don't
: want controls sticking through the side of the guitar. Thanks.
