: It's most likely 1 11/16" rather than 1 5/8". 1 3/4 and 1 11/16 are
: Martin's standard widths. There are other Martin widths, but mostly even wider.
: I find the 1 3/4 much easier to play than 1 11/16 due to large fingers.

: I've had an OM1-GT for about six years, and find it's not so easy to play for some
: reason. Then a few weeks ago I bought the 000M I posted about here and it's a breeze
: to play. It's actually a joy to play. Now, to my eye anyway, both guitars seem to be
: identical except for the pickguards. But today, I finally had a brainstorm and
: measured the fingerboard at the nut and found the OM1 is 1-3/4 inches and the 000M
: is 1-5/8 inches. So, DUH... the easier to play guitar has a narrower fingerboard.
: But how the hell does one-eighth of an inch make so much difference? While I can
: still find specs on the OM1, I can't find any on the 000M because it's a lot older.
: Anyone else notice a difference in playability between these two size fingerboards?
