I can't answer your question.......but....
Neck width is a subject that deserves a lot of attention...
But, it's never gotten it.
I believe that today, it would be very easy to build a guitar that has an easily removable neck.
Why? So necks of various widths and thicknesses could be available.
The only way I EVER had any ability to play a guitar half decently was with a capo at the 2nd fret.
I have fat short fingers.
I'm certain that before long....someone will build an entirely different guitar of some sort.
Someone will pick up where Ovation left off.
Having short fat fingers... plus being left-handed made it a struggle for me ....always.
If the desire had been strong enough, I would have been able to overcome it.
The next time you see Arlo Guthrie...ask him to show you his hands.
THey're smaller than mine. He's got stubby fingers too.
At one time, I was getting by pretty well....
But, it only lasted a few years.
The fact of the matter is...my ear's no good.
I didn't get the full gene that the "play by ear" musicians have.
I got just a smidgen of it.
I could have made up for this by hard work....
But, it was never that important to me.
My problem is that I've always been like Shane.
I love my work.
Too much to care very much about anything else.
It's why Shane never played golf and Glenn Campbell did.
Glenn played a lot of golf....had a tournament named after him....
This may be one of the strangest things about Glenn...
Nothin has been said about his golf life...
I indicated earlier....
If I ever get another guitar, I'll have the neck made to my specifications...
So it fits my hands and fingers.
Why no guitar manufacturer has never done this is beyond me.
It's an absolute no-brainer.
