If I wasn't so lazy..........
I'd pick a fake name.
But, there are two problems with this.
First, I'd have to go to the trouble of deciding on a name.
That could take weeks.
Then, I'd have to pick a pass word........
That would take more weeks.
BTW, Ken...I've lost my info....please send it.
I need to put it in another computer.........
Where was I?
Bruce....we all know it's you.
What's the big deal?????
Life is short.........
But, you have no shortage of names.
I'm glad for you.
: Ken: Thank you for the clarification. It's time for me to say, I may be gullible or
: stupid, but I am also extremely angry.
: I contacted Ken after having a lengthy exchange with a person purporting to be
: "Gordon Lightfoot". If you follow the exchange elsewhere on the board,
: you see the responses are crafted in such a manner so as not to reveal identity, but
: to keep one foot inside doubt and one inside a false claim. I got "hinky"
: about it after seeing Mason Williams responding as well as the late Allen Sherman!
: "Duh" on me!
: It turns out the respondent, is a Board frequenter who goes by the alias
: "Brucester". In his response, my wife and I were urged to drive 168 miles
: to Portland, Maine, to see a great show (no lie there), and possibly meet G.L. after
: the show. Being from Maine, I tend to take people at their word, and I still do
: business on a handshake. Again, call me "stupid" if you wish, but I
: believe in the overall sincerity of men to keep their word. Sure I get burned, but
: the investment makes me a better person, in my opinion.
: I've met legends, post show, Nick Reynold and Bob Shane being two of them, Tom
: Paxton, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, and Brownie Mackintosh being others.
: When the opportunity to meet and exchange with Gordon Lightfoot arose, I was
: pleasantly surprised, but not incredulous. I saw him at Maine Center for the Arts,
: where he was genial and warm to the audience.
: Up front, I have to say I'm a bit bruised, by this experience.
: "Brucester", if Bob Shane invited you to dinner to talk over the Trio
: history, would you want to believe it? Would you take a risk to determine veracity?
: If Dave Guard invited you to his place, you might get a bit more wary, right?
: No harm done? Yes, harm done. You assumed the identity of an individual and played
: it out. If the rest of this community isn't ashamed of you, I will tell you, I am.
: If it was up to me, I'd ban you from the board. It's not, so I leave it to Ken and
: the others. I may be an old fool, but I'm an honest one.
