It has since disappeared years ago, and the picture isn't that great (not great at all!) but here is my first guitar and banjo. The guitar was a Harmony (Stella I think), that I bought new for $20. The banjo was given to me by my Grandfather, a musician who had his own big orchestra. When he heard I had gone over to the dark side of folk music (Having given up on trumpet, piano and string bass) he told me he had a banjo in his attic which I was welcome to have. This is the banjo I learned on. Unfortunately, I have no idea who made it. All I knew or cared about at the time was that it wasn't a long neck Vega! Anyway, here's a picture of the guitar and banjo along with an store advertisement for Something Special which my record store guy gave me. He was great. He played sax in my Grandfather's orchestra and owned the music store. He'd call me every time a new Trio album or 45 came in and saved all the advertising stuff for me. I'm sure no one can identify the banjo, but it's worth a try. It did have a star on the peghead. That's all I know.
