"Bob Gibson at Cornell" CD...Amazing!!

At the 4th SE Kingston Trio mini camp this past weekend, I met up with Allan Shaw and purchased his Folk Era CD "Bob Gibson Live at Cornell". I had read some reviews and was anxious to hear it. As Bruce Blazej and I drove home, I played the 2 CD set and was really astounded at both the quality of the CD, and the talent of a very young and upcoming young musician. His mastery of that old Vega is really surprising! It was a one man show, performed for a very attentive and appreciative Cornell Folk Music Club. The amateur tape was digitally cleaned up, and sounded great on the car's speakers.
Folk Era Records decided to leave in the time between songs, and we hear Bob quickly tuning for the next song. (Thanks, Allan, I stole some really cool banjo tunings!} This banjo had to be one of the very early Seeger Vegas, made in late '56 or early "57...WOW!!! Allan also includes a bonus CD recorded after the show in someone's apartment. Have yet to listen to it. Interested ? Check out Folk Era records at www.folkera.com.
