To put everyone's mind at ease - I definitely won't piece out the set! And yes, it is a matched set.
One more quick question: I've got the receipt for the Dave Guard guitar from when my dad purchased it in 2013. I figured that was almost as good as an appraisal - would that be an accurate thought or not so much?
: I echo Mr. Carter's comments, except for the Gruhn recommendation. Unless you are in
: Nashville or plan to go there to deal with Gruhn in person, you'd be better advised
: to seek appraisals from another expert. I strongly advise against trying to get an
: appraisal from Gruhn by mail. I like Gryphon in California, Bernunzio's in New York,
: and also have had positive experiences with Elderly in Michigan. Best of luck.

: The Dave Guard limited edition Martin is an 00-21KT, one of 100 authorized, but the
: run did not sell out. It is a very nice guitar, with an Alpine Spruce top and East
: Indian Rosewood back and sides. Unlike most 00-21's, yours has an ebony fingerboard
: and bridge. It listed new for about $6,200 IIRC, and so its used value should be in
: the area of $2,800 to perhaps $3,000. But keep in mind that it may not sell quickly.
: If the 2 Martins and the Vega (it's not really a Vega, but a Deering) are a matched
: set - same number for all - then you may have something valuable. I suggest that
: you get an independent appraisal from a reputable source such as Gruhn Guitars in
: Nashville and then plan your course of action from there. Don't be in a hurry to
: liquidate this set, and PLEASE don't piece it out.

: Hi Everyone,
: My father passed away recently, leaving me with a large collection of Kingston Trio
: vinyl. He had about seven copies of everything the Trio ever did. Do you have
: suggestions for the best and simplest ways to resell these items other than listing
: them on eBay or Discogs? I don't want to spend the next year of my life doing this.
: Also, do you know of any record dealers that would be interested? Local record
: dealers that I have approached have literally laughed at me.
: I additionally have one Dave Guard limited edition Martin Guitar (#56/100) along
: with a set of two Martins and a Vega Banjo, also from a Kingston Trio limited
: edition of 100, all signed by John, Bob and Nick. The store where my dad purchased
: these has gone out of business and can't help me resell them. I'm wondering if any
: of you know of someone who deals in these items specifically or if there is someone
: you know who could appraise them for me?
: Thank you
