Dave's Version of "Scotch & Soda"

"Greenback Dollar" mentions the version of "Scotch and Soda" we have all come to love, Bob Shane's version, was recorded while Nick took Dave "out for a beer". Voyle Gilmore stayed in the studio with Bob to get it down for the initial album. Dave was insisting on his version, which was substantially different, and presumably, not as easy to swallow. I always loved the Sinatra comment, "It's been done", as a nod to the Bob's definitive version.
Okay, so here is the question: On Dave's "Up and In" album, was that the version of "Scotch and Soda" he tried to insist upon for the first album? Has anyone heard Dave's initial studio attempts? How does it sound in comparison to the standard Shane version?
