: Okay, right up top, I know this is off topic Trio-wise, but it's music related.
: I've been wondering why there's never been a movie made about the Beatles. Not a
: Beatles movie like Help! or Hard Days Night, but a biographical movie like has been
: made about the Doors, or The Beachboys, or even John Denver, with actors portraying
: the Fab Four. Could there be any reason it never happened, like the Beatles or their
: families didn't want it done or attempted? Do you think Hollywood could have pulled
: it off? Just an idle mind wondering.
There are actually a couple or more. Back Beat was a mid-1990s film from the UK that had a decent run in the U.S. and pops up on movie channels from time to time. I enjoyed it thoroughly - it's not a great film, but it is a good one - and the ending is just marvelous. It's about the band's beginning and its early gigs in Hamburg, with the focus on the tragic Stu Sutcliffe and his relationship with John Lennon and how it shaped what the Beatles would become.
Two of Us from 2000 is a bit different but interesting, a "what happened when McCartney visited Lennon in NYC in 1976 to discuss bringing the Beatles together agaoin?" film. Again, not great but worth watching IMO.

There are others of varying quality listed here:
There certainly hasn't been a major studio big budget biopic about them yet - but than again there hasn't been one about the KT either!
ps: It's not OT Rick - music, folk era, etc.
