I have always thought that the ending reflects Manuel's passion for the woman and his resignation that he will never have her.
Others interpret it differently; that the last order is the woman's invitation to Manuel to share her bed.
It will be interesting to see what others think. Too bad we can ask Jane Bowers, the woman who wrote the song. She was such a great writer of folk tunes.
