Really nice story Norm. I had a similar experience in front of the Indian Casino after that same configuration played there. Nick sat down on a bench next to me to wait for their limo while I was waiting for my car and we had a nice visit. All had been most gracious back stage signing guitars and visiting too. That was when Ben was traveling with them...now there's somebody I wish would come to camp! Somebody swing by Estes Park, Co and pick him up!

: Nicely put, Robert. Being the "runt" in my Trio clone groups, I ALWAYS had a
: soft spot for Nick, and like you marveled at his harmonies and natural vitality and
: enthusiasm. Two friends of mine and I attended a concert in Mentor OH years
: back--Bob, Nick and George. After the show, we went over to where the guys were
: staying--while Bob and George likely hit the sack, Nick came into the restaurant/bar
: and sat down by himself. We immediately rectified that, and were honored to buy him
: a late supper (we also ate) and basically enjoy his company for quite awhile. I'll
: always remember that evening, and being able to spend time with one of my childhood
: heroes! We still (and will always) miss ya, Nick!

: Great links, Tim. I made an oblique allusion to the same in my post about
: "Jesse
: James: below. Bad as he was, the Pinkertons gave him a run for his money by waging a
: railroad-financed petty war against his family in Missouri, killing at least four of
: them in fires and shootouts, though only brother Frank was an actual participant in
: Jesse's crimes.

: And here is another link to an article about the Pennsylvania Coal and Iron Police
: who were a private police force hired by the railroads. These are most likely the
: "police" the song "Hobo's Lullaby" refers to.
